It also\u00a0discovered radioactivity and\u00a0certain major deseases.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Given the aforementioned facts, France\u00a0started to support the high tec sector 30 years ago. The country beefed up the policy over the past years,\u00a0by\u00a0supplying a wide\u00a0range\u00a0of\u00a0grants\u00a0and\u00a0tax credits.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conditions to get these incentives<\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">In general<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As mentionned before, the company needs most of the time \u00a0to\u00a0develop innovative technologies (Information and communication technologies (ICT), biotechnologies, renewable technologies, innovative materials, nanotechnologies, etc.). \u00a0However, if the sector in which they operate does not target innovation, some of them can be acquired, provided the company has ambitous objectives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Depending on the programm, the incentives are restricted to Small or Medium Enterprise\u00a0under the European definition (less than 250 employees, annual turnover below 50M\u20ac or a total balance sheet below 43M\u20ac. No requirements exist regarding the shareholding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, the seniority of the company matters most of the time little, even not at all. For some of them, it is not required that the company be incorporated to apply for them. However, it needs to exist to cash the incentives.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">..and applied to branches or subsidiaries of foreign small businesses<\/h3>\n<p><strong>A newly subsidiary or branch founded by a foreign group can benefit from all these incentives as any French company<\/strong> if<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the consolidated turn-over and the balance sheet of the mother company it belongs to and all its subsidiaries remain below these thresholds.<\/p>\n<p>Hence, foreign firms can\u00a0hire people,\u00a0especially engineers, \u00a0developpers etc.. working in\u00a0the\u00a0innovative\u00a0sector at a very interesting\u00a0value for money.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Taxonomy of incentives in France and economical effect &#8211; in brief<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Incentives in France can be classified in 5 categories; \u00a0tax credits, \u00a0prize-winning awards, sudsidies and reimbursable supports, free-interest rate loans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most of time, there are no restrictions to add these incentives to each other.
